"How do I know for 100% sure that I'm going to Heaven when I die?"

This is what the Bible says...

1. Realize your condition...

 

• No person is good enough or kind enough to go to Heaven on his/her own merit.  No matter how much good we do, we still fall short.  Going to church 3 times a week for your entire life doesn't get you to Heaven.  Giving money to churches, charities and the homeless doesn't get you to Heaven.  All the good in the world will not get rid of our sin.
   

• The Bible says in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
   

• Romans 5:12-21 speaks on the sinful nature of man, as well.

2. There is a punishment for sin...

 

• Just as there is "reward" for good, there is punishment, or penalty for wrong.  The punishment for our wrong (our sin) is eternal death in a place called Hell.
   

• Romans 6:23a says "For the wages of sin is death;"  The death this is talking about is not our natural, humanly death that everyone experiences... it is referring to the "second death" (see Revelation 21:8).  This second death is a sinner being unable to enter Heaven and being cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14).

 

3. Jesus Christ died for you...

 

• God's great love for us was shown when he sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sin. He stepped in and took our punishment!  He died for us!
   

• Romans 5:8 says "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ dies for us."
   

• John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

 

4. Trust Christ as your Saviour...

 

• Everlasting life in Heaven is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith.  To be saved, all you must do is pray and ask forgiveness of sin and trust Christ, alone, to take you to Heaven. 
   

• Romans 6:23b says "...But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
   

• Romans 10:13 says "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

We want to help you with a sample prayer.  Please understand, it's not just your words that save, but your faith in Jesus Christ to save you.  A sample prayer could be "Dear Jesus, I know I'm a sinner.  Please forgive me for my sins.  Please come into my heart and save my soul from Hell.  I'm trusting you, and you alone, to take me to Heaven when I die.  Thank you for saving me, Jesus.  Amen."
